MSR IsoPro is an 80/20 blend of isobutane and propane, with the purest isobutane (5% or less n-butane) of any canister fuel. This clean-burning formulation maintains higher internal pressure at lower temperatures than standard butane/propane mixtures, giving you superior cold weather performance and more consistent output over the life of the canister.

Inverting the canister provides liquid gas feed to the burner, this keeps the pressure constant whatever the temperature so you get faster boil rates and turbo-boost performance. With the canister in the traditional upright position fuel use is more efficient but performance is reduced, especially in cold weather.

So you can now choose how you cook depending on time and conditions. You can even flip the canister upside down during normal operation for a quick boost on demand. The clever clip on stand that allows the canister to sit upside down is purposefully angled to allow easy access to the flame controller, even when wearing gloves.
